The general objectives of the project are:

firstly acquiring knowledge for action at European level (specifically to estimate the prevalence of headache disorders; to define relevant indicators to assess the physical, emotional, socio-economic impact and up-to-date disease management; to develop, validate a module for gathering information in a standardised way and to pilot in some EU countries to gain an understanding of global impact; to contribute in the medium term to evaluate the physical, emotional, socio-economic impact of headache disorders and patient's treatment satisfaction and needs);

and secondly, to use knowledge to raise awareness of the impact of headache disorders among the general public, health care professionals, public health officials and governments to promote a beneficial change (specifically to inform and sensitize decision-makers on the issue of headache and to the needs of both those suffering from headache and carers; to improve knowledge on headache and headache management among physicians and allied healthcare professionals; to alter complacent perception of headache disorders as minor, trivial and undeserving of treatment; to understand better the global public health dimension of headache; to optimise treatment strategies and disease management; to ultimately improve the quality of life for people suffering from headache disorders).
